Before I explain these four amazingly simple techniques to boost your link popularity I'd like to erase the common misconception that link popularity and reciprocal linking are one and the same.

Link popularity in general refers to the number of sites or pages linking back to you.

But that doesn't mean a link from 10,000 pages will be useful.

No.

A single link from a relevant site that is NOT a Link Farm, is far more useful and search engine friendly than thousands of links from Link farms.

So, here are the four best ways to boost your link popularity, that will in turn boost the amount of targeted traffic to your website.

1) Article Submission:

Writing articles in your niche market and submitting them to TOP ezine directories is a great way to boost your link popularity. The trick involved here is, there is a protocol involved in writing and submitting articles.

Every article is accompanied by a resource box. The resource box contains a brief description about you and also contains a link to your website.

When you submit your site to all the top Article directories say top 50 directories the Number of sites Linking back to you will be 50! So, you now have a quality Link from 50 relevant pages. Wow! :)

But that's not all.

If your article is good, it will be picked up and published in by many ezine owners in your niche market. Your link popularity will grow by leaps and bounds.

2) eBooks:

Distributing Viral eBooks is a staggeringly powerful, but grossly under-utilized Targeted Traffic Generating strategy .

But be careful, blatant advertising on forums is prohibited. A friendly question and answer type of conversation is the most recommended form of participation.

4) Testimonals.

Writing testimonals is a simle yet powerful way to boost your link popularity. A simple way to boost link popularity through testimonals is to give testimonals to the ezines you are a subscriber to.

eZine owners love testimonals. They are like rewards for their hard work of writing and sending out a useful ezine..

It also adds to their credibilty and boosts their subscription rate. The more subscribers they receive, the more people will read your testimonial, and the more targeted traffic you will receive.

Another way is to give testimonals for eBooks or software you have purchased. I strongly recommend you provide testimonals to every eBook or software owner you have purchased from.

This will not only help you boost your link popularity but will also drive targeted traffic to your website.

5) Reciprocal Linking

In the beginning of this article I mentioned that link popularity and reciprocal linking are not one and the same.

True. And reciprocal linking should NOT be a part of improving link popularity? :)

A good link campaign can bring you as much or more daily traffic than a #1 position on search engines. It is also the primary tool to improve your link popularity.

Use these criteria to pick your reciprocal link partners and your efforts will be fruitful:

- Non-competing Web sites that are a theme match for your site content and objectives.

- Web sites that are not 'link farms'

- Web sites that actively seek site submissions and partnerships

- Web sites that offer value to your target market

And as I mentioned above,

- Web sites that are already indexed by Google with a PageRank 4 or higher
