I lift weights.

(Hey, don't laugh...)

Several times a week I get to go down to my local gym, put on shorts and a T and lift heavy pieces of metal attached to rods.

And I love it.
Lifting weights makes your muscles sore. Sometimes, when I have been working toward a particular goal, I have gotten a little TOO sore--especially on leg day. I have accidentally made myself so sore that I have had trouble doing normal things (like breathing.)

People have said to me "if it makes you sore, why do you do it?"

My answer is simple: The only way to get to my goal is through the pain.

If there was some other way, I would take it. I'm not into the pain--I'm into the changes I am making in my body.

The same is true of my business--and yours.

Being in business means setting yourself up for some pain-- pain from rude people, pain from technology that "almost" works right, pain from facing your fears.

But the only way to get to your goal--whether it is personal freedom, family fulfillment or financial security--is through the pain.

Most people will run from the pain. They are the ones who tell you stories about the dreams they left unfulfilled, the goals that would have been realized "if only..."

We have to decide to work in spite of the pain, to persevere.

Pain is the only path to any real success in any area of life.

So when you face a little pain today, smile to yourself, 'cause even if no one else knows it YOU know that it is your path to success.
