I have just downloaded Knoppix from the web (all 701 mb of it) as
the ISO file and have copied it onto a CD.
How do I now install this as an operating system on my p166 system?
I cannot boot from CD on this system so that is not an option. Do
you just use a w98 boot disk or is there a Linux equivalent?
You are not supposed to just copy that ISO file to your CD! Let me repeat
it again. You are NOT supposed to just copy that ISO file to your CD. Instead,
you're supposed to use Nero or whatever burning program that you use to
burn it to your CD as image file, NOT data file... Once you've done that,
boot with it and wait for it to come up, in GUI. Then, <Ctrl><Alt>F1
(means hold down Ctrl, Alt, and press F1 at the same time). You will see
a prompt and at it, type
hdinstall
Isn't the command
knx-hdinstall
WOW !!! THAT WAS A BIG HELP
Actually, it is knoppix-installer now (or /usr/sbin/knoppix-installer if you get command not found)...
