Not making a Decision is also a Decision

You cannot get a better job because your parents didn't give you the right education, you cannot sleep at night because your boss overloads you with work during the day, you cannot be happy because you are overweight.

Somewhere deep down inside you know that you should be doing something about these unsatisfactory situations but somehow you never get around it.  This doesn't let you off the hook, though because you are also responsible for the things you omit to do.

Saying 'I should lose weight/get a new job/go on an assertiveness course' instead of  'If I really wanted to, I could lose weight/get a new job/go on an assertiveness course' is refusing to make a positive decision and that in itself is a decision.

Not making a decision is also a decision.  You are liable for the consequences of your decisions, be they active or passive ones.

If you don't run your life yourself, someone else is going to run it for you, and you may have to take what you get rather than get what you want.
